What is this position about?

The Territory COO Office – Australia and New Zealand is an instrumental department that supports both the Territory CEO and the Territory COO on strategic-initiatives, ongoing evolution of the Australian regulatory and operating environment, maintaining and robust management and control framework at an entire Territory level.

The Department ensures proper execution of BNPP CIB ITO strategies in Australia and New Zealand. It supports the application of general policies and best business practices, in accordance with BNPP CIB guidelines and local statutory requirements across all business and functions departments.

The Territory COO Office covers the following mandates:

  • Managing the implementation and ongoing support of Operational Risk controls and periodic Permanent Controls reporting
  • Overseeing Third Party Risk Management (“TPRM”) processes across the Territory, with a specific focus on Outsourcing governance framework and associated controls, while providing advisory support to Procurement by working closely with the centralized APAC Procurement team for third-party vendor sourcing and engagement
  • Coordinating outsourcing requests and execution of Service Level Agreements between BNPP Australia Branch and other parties
  • Following up internal and external audit findings and recommendations
  • Identifying process improvement and implementing strategic changes across the organization, following formal Project Management methodologies
  • Assisting in the implementation of new systems or enhancements of existing systems

With the corporate strategic plans currently under implementation in the Territory, there is an opportunity to join a growing COO Office and support an ongoing evolution of the territorial governance framework.  The Territory Coordinator is responsible for supporting the change management and operational support to Australia and New Zealand.  The role provides a range of executive support that contributes to the strengthening of the operational effectiveness and non-financial risk management.

This role will report directly to the Senior Territory Coordinator, Australia and New Zealand. The candidate shall demonstrate ability to bridge between APAC and local stakeholders and partners for the Group’s overall strategic plans.

What would be your typical day at BNPP Paribas look like? 

Primary Role Responsibilities

The COO Office – Territory Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Senior Territory Coordinator to accomplish the missions as defined and agreed with the Territory COO and Head of COO Office, Australia and New Zealand. The core duties include the following:

Governance

  • Support local governance forums including coordination of non-financial risk management committees, e.g. regulatory reporting committees, supplier risk committees, Volcker certification, etc.
  • Produce high quality reports and presentation materials used in the governance forums and management reporting via effective partnering with the Business Lines and Functional stakeholders to obtain accurate and meaningful contents.

Projects Management

  • Support various territory-wide project implementation and coordination including and not limited to analytics tasks, project documentations, project governance, stakeholder management, etc.

Cross-functional Process Improvement and Strategic Alignment

  • Assist the coordination of cross-functional projects or initiatives across multiple business lines and functions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and executions.
  • Identify process improvement and strategic changes and support the integration of strategies, objectives, and workflows across business lines and functions, promoting a unified approach to achieving organizational goals.

Third Party Risk Management

  • Coordinate outsourcing initiatives in accordance with the Group/ Regional policy as well as local regulation.
  • Assist the analysis and implementation of change management in accordance to the changing regulatory environment/requirements.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Assist the data analysis and key metrics monitoring to track territory performance across various aspects as well as coordinate and contribute to various management reporting.

Qualifications

  • Degree holder in Business, Accountancy, Finance or related field
  • 3-5 years working experience in non-financial risk management positions
  • Strong attention to details, organizational and multi-tasking skills, able to execute tasks autonomously
  • Competence to challenge status quo on reasonable grounds and communicate effectively to stakeholders across Businesses and Functions
  • Understanding of the Asian regulatory environment and framework is preferred but not essential
  • Working closely and effectively with local, APAC and the Group’s Business Lines and Functions to ensure the missions of the COO Office are achieved with quality and in a timely manner
  • Willingness to work during Asian hours on an occasional basis is necessary given the strong interaction required with internal stakeholders in the APAC Region (Hong Kong, Singapore, etc)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel and PowerPoint
