Sustainable finance: follow our progress in figures

Amount of financing (credit exposure) allocated to low-carbon energy production, and essentially renewable sources, at the end of September 2025. Low-carbon energies are those which produce little to no greenhouse gases. This includes: wind and marine energy, photovoltaic solar, concentrated solar, hydroelectric, geothermal energy, bioenergy and nuclear. The objective is to achieve at least 40 billion euros in outstanding credit exposure dedicated to low-carbon energy production by 2030.

The share of low-carbon in BNP Paribas' energy exposure as of September 2025. Low-carbon energies are those which produce little to no greenhouse gases. This includes: wind and marine energy, photovoltaic solar, concentrated solar, hydroelectric, geothermal energy, bioenergy and nuclear. The objective is for 90% of the Group's credit exposure to energy production to be devoted to low-carbon energies by 2030.

The Group’s absolute financed emissions in million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent (MtCO₂e). BNP Paribas targets a 70% reduction for its financed emissions in the oil and gas sector, to go from 27.3 MtCO₂e at the end of September 2022 to 8.2 MtCO₂e in 2030.

Emissions intensity of our financing in grams of CO₂ per kilowatt-hour (gCO₂/kWh). BNP Paribas is targetting a carbon intensity between 110 and 125 gCO₂/kWh by 2030. The International Energy Agency's Net-Zero 2050 scenario indicates a target of 239 gCO₂/kWh by 2030.

Amount of drawn and undrawn loans granted by BNP Paribas to its customers, identified as long-term by an internal classification system, at the end of 2025. The Group's transaction classification principles are based on external market standards such as those of the Loan Market Association and the European Taxonomy in Europe.

Cumulative amount at the end of 2025 of all types of bonds identified as sustainable, according to ICMA (International Capital Market Association) guidelines issued by corporates, financial institutions and sovereign clients, and arranged by BNP Paribas (total amount divided by the number of bookrunners).

Amount of assets under management at the end of 2025 in open-ended funds distributed in Europe, articles 8 and 9, according to SFDR. These are BNP Paribas Asset Management funds.

Amount of support for our clients in the transition to a low carbon economy between 01/01/2022 and 31/12/2025: cumulative year-end amount of financial support identified as contributing to the transition to a low carbon economy according to an internal classification system. This amount includes amounts of sustainable loans and sustainable bonds, as well as financial support provided, in some cases in the form of private placements, financial advisory and IPOs (initial public offerings).

Cumulative amount at the end of 2025 of financial products and services (loans, bonds, etc.) that help protect terrestrial and marine biodiversity. The contribution to the protection of biodiversity is identified by an internal classification system. This amount covers part of the amounts of indicators 1 (sustainable loans) and 2 (sustainable bonds). Examples: implementation of more biodiversity-friendly practices in the upstream supply chains of agricultural commodities, increase in the share of agricultural commodities that do not contribute to deforestation, rehabilitation of quarries after use, etc.

7 investments with a social or environmental impact for our own account were made in 2025, totaling 14.2 million euros, bringing the total amount of these investments on 31st December 2025 to 105.3 million euros. The objective of this impact investment package of 200 million euros for our own account is to support companies whose primary objective is to generate a positive impact in three areas: local development and climate, social and solidarity-based activities, and natural capital.
