Test Engineer
Position Purpose
The candidate will be responsible as a functional resource of team for creating and executing the functional as well as regression testing suite. The candidate must have good hands-on experience on SQL and BASH/SHELL scripting. The candidate must have good analytical skills and should be self-motivated, proactive and a good team player. The candidate should have experience in working effectively in fast-paced environments. Candidate is also expected to coordinate with onshore/offshore teams.
Responsibilities
Direct Responsibilities
- Run and monitor ETL batches for monthly regression and cater to ad-hoc testing requests, Analyze, debug any issues found during these runs and make suggestions for improvements.
- Create functional and regression test cases based on the business requirements.
- Create the required test artefacts for release testing (Test Plan, Execution Report, Closure Report)
- Execute the test cases, analyze results and log/manage/track defects
- Collaborate with the Dev/BA team to understand the requirements and resolve the issues related to testing
- Update the regression test suite after each release.
- Well versed with test artefacts and project management using HP-ALM.
- Independently own the test activities (manual and automation) for the assigned area
- Run and maintain BASH/SHELL automation scripts.
- Create test cases and test data as per requirements. Analyze test cases thoroughly to ensure adequate coverage of requirements.
- Execute test cases, analyze test results and accordingly log defects, track and re-test defects.
- Closely work with Dev teams/BA to resolve issues and, also to develop a good understanding of the project and testing objectives.
- Must have good analytical skills.
- must have experience in writing SQL queries & ETL testing.
- Informatica knowledge is a good to have.
- Strong knowledge of the complete QA cycle and experience with different types of testing, including experience with rigorous test case creation, maintenance, and execution.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Should be able to communicate effectively with IT teams as well as Business Teams
- Must be flexible, independent and self-motivated
- Hands on experience on JIRA and Quality Centre / ALM
- Perform other testing-related duties as required

Technical & Behavioral Competencies
- Technical Skills
o Good knowledge of SDLC in general and QA cycle in specific, and experience in various types of testing (functional and regression) activities.
o Good knowledge of BASH/SHELL scripting.
o SQL and informatica would be preferred.
o Expertise on SQL, test management using ALM (Quality Center), JIRA
- Behavioral Skills
o Good communication and co-ordination skills
o Analytical and problem solving skills
o Must be flexible, independent and self-motivated
Specific Qualifications (if required)
Qualifications and Experience:
· Bachelor in Commerce, Science or Engg.
· A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in supporting applications & business processes
· Exposure to IT service delivery, business management
