The position at a glance
The CIB Americas Operations Data Governance Department was created in 2015 to setup, drive and continuously improve the way data is controlled throughout the organization in the US and Canada, under the leadership of the CIB/IP Chief Data Officer. It looks to satisfy the requirements related to principles for effective enterprise data aggregation and reporting and is intended to support evolving regulatory requirements.
Candidates will be measured on the following four performance drivers, which will dictate how individual impact is considered on the Americas platform:
- Implementation of data policies/Project Management
- Support the efforts and principles of operational and data governance excellence.
- Develop and manage action plans.
- Manages project planning, timelines, issue investigation and problem solving.
- Quickly earns the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders.
- Executes with limited information and ambiguity.
- Maintain relationships with business, technology, and operations areas.
- Drive controls, process, and data improvement.
- Devise and adopt creative solutions to complex issues.
In detail
- Support and facilitates the Data Community’s identification, definition, and management of Key Data Elements KDEs resulting in producing annual KDE review. This includes the business and technical definitions, metadata, and golden source information, and ensuring its full inclusion in the Data Governance tools platform and workflow comments. Perform data element review for sanction screening.
- Support and facilitates the Data Community’s data quality assessments, including data profiling, establishment of data quality rules and thresholds for KDEs; review of data quality reports provided back to the Community. Perform secondary review of Weekly/Monthly Data Quality Rule (DQR) and Key Quality Indicator (KQIs) outputs, escalating when needed to the BU/IT for resolution. Performing review of Data Quality Rules, and creating, or decommissioning throughout the year as required.
- Ensuring appropriate level of urgency is raised within the function business to manage data quality issues and foster a high level of quality & integrity of the data used for risk, liquidity, and regulatory reporting.
- Works with IT to provide visualization of lineage of Data Community’s data, highlighting transformations and aggregations from origination through to reporting.
- Manage IMR (issue management resolution) tickets owned by a given remit and assist with tickets where remit is responsible for providing data.
- Help in obtaining sign‐off and data certification chain in data community and oversees and monitors its implementation at all stages of the data lifecycle: origination, preparation, consolidation, and reporting. Perform Quarterly KDE signoff.
- Support regular core data community team meetings and key community data quality working groups and attends Data Governance forums contributing to progress review and initiatives with key constituents.
- Educates business and technical communities on purpose and value of Data Governance and importance of Data Quality
- Assist in coordination of changes to their assigned community Reference Frameworks for KDEs through active leadership of the running change and change implementation processes.
- Produces artifacts for the Community data governance including meeting minutes, presentations, project outputs, and plans, etc.
- Provides regular reporting on Data Governance metrics and activities for assigned Data Community
- Proactively suggest continuous improvements opportunities within the enterprise data management processes in the applicable systems.
- Builds and sustains global network of business relationships to remediate referential data, including, front office, middle and back office, IT, and other functions, at all levels of the organization.
- Data Steward’s will opine, and support development of other Data or Risk required controls initiatives within BNPP (EUC Shadow Light, etc.)

Willingness to obtain Banking and Global Markets specific knowledge
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Business, Finance or Technology, where computer science knowledge is an added advantage

2 years of professional experience in related roles

- Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge of the English is required.
