Position Purpose

The AML platform is the technological backbone that protects the BNP Paribas Group from fraud, money‑laundering and other financial crimes. As a Kubernetes Full‑Stack Developer you will design, build, and operate end‑to‑end, cloud‑native applications that ingest, enrich, analyze and visualize AML‑relevant data. You will work side‑by‑side with data‑scientists, compliance experts and other engineers to translate regulatory requirements into reliable, highly‑available code.

Direct AML experience is not mandatory; strong full‑stack development expertise, proven production‑grade Kubernetes experience and the ability to learn AML concepts quickly are essential.

Direct Responsibilities

  • Develop & deliver production‑grade front‑end applications (React, Angular or Vue) that enable investigators and compliance users to visualize alerts, case‑workflows and analytical dashboards.
  • Build secure back‑end services (Node Express, Python FastAPI/Django, or Java Spring Boot) exposing REST/GraphQL APIs for transaction ingestion, enrichment, rule evaluation and case management.
  • Containerize all components and orchestrate them on Kubernetes (EKS, AKS or GKE) using Helm charts, Kustomize or Operators; implement rolling updates, canary deployments and self‑healing.
  • Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions) that include unit/integration testing, static code analysis, security scans (SAST/DAST) and Docker‑image signing.
  • Build data pipelines using PySpark, Apache Beam or similar frameworks; integrate with streaming platforms (Kafka, Pulsar) and batch ingestion layers to support real‑time AML processing of millions of transactions per day.
  • Implement observability (ELK/EFK, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) for end‑to‑end tracing, metrics and logging across UI, API and Kubernetes layers; define alerts and SLO/SLI dashboards.
  • Enforce data‑quality, lineage and privacy controls (GDPR/CCPA) throughout the ingestion‑to‑case‑management flow by using schema validation, data‑masking and audit logging.
  • Perform code reviews, mentor junior developers and promote best‑practice guidelines for secure coding, container hardening and Kubernetes operations.
  • Participate in feasibility studies for emerging technologies (service‑mesh, serverless on Kubernetes, graph databases, explainable AI) and prepare concise evaluation artefacts for the AML Architecture Committee (ITSVC).
  • Document architectural decisions, API contracts, UI/UX wire‑frames and Kubernetes deployment diagrams to keep the AML platform aligned with the target‑state design.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

  • Front-End development experience in modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks – React (hooks, Redux) or Angular (RxJS, NgRx) or Vue; responsive design, WCAG accessibility, unit/UI testing (Jest, Cypress).
  • Strong back-end development experience with Node Express, Python FastAPI/Django or Java Spring Boot; design of RESTful & GraphQL APIs, authentication/authorization (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT)
  • Hands on experience of production deployment on EKS/AKS/GKE; Helm, Kustomize, Operators, PodSecurityPolicies, NetworkPolicies, Horizontal Pod Autoscaling; basic service‑mesh knowledge (Istio/Linkerd).
  • Containers and DevOps knowledge of Docker multi‑stage builds, vulnerability scanning (Trivy, Anchore); CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions); IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Integration with Kafka/Pulsar, Spark/Flink or Beam for streaming ETL; familiarity with Snowflake, BigQuery or similar data‑warehouses.
  • Database proficiency in relational (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL/graph (Neo4j, JanusGraph) – schema design, indexing, performance tuning.
  • Observability implementation experience using tools e.g. ELK/EFK stack, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Jaeger/Zipkin tracing; alerting and SLO/SLI definition.
  • Secure coding knowledge complying to (OWASP Top 10), API‑gateway security, data‑privacy (GDPR/CCPA) controls, secret management (HashiCorp Vault, cloud KMS).
  • Application profiling experience using (Py‑Spy, JProfiler, Chrome DevTools), load testing (JMeter, Locust), optimization of CPU/IO‑bound workloads.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and compliance audiences; strong written documentation skills.
  • Proven experience in globally distributed Agile squads; mentorship and knowledge‑sharing mindset.
  • Willingness to quickly acquire AML domain knowledge and adopt new languages, frameworks or tools as required

Nice to have Skills:

  • Experience with other programming languages (Java, .NET, Scala).
  • Cloud‑architect certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect).
  • Familiarity with AML‑specific open‑source tools (SAR‑ML, OpenAML, custom rule engines).
  • Exposure to ML frameworks (Scikit‑learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) and model‑deployment pipelines.
  • Knowledge of AML regulatory reporting standards (FAT, 5AMLD, FinCEN).
  • Service‑mesh expertise (Istio, Linkerd, Consul)
