P&L and Valuation Analyst Trainee
- Within the Finance function at BNP Paribas, the Standards & Controls department has among other missions to represent Finance within the Group’s valuation framework and to reinforce the functional animation of the decentralised LOD2s (2nd line of Defense), through direct and intrusive supervision
Your Main Activities Are
- Conduct the 2nd level of control on Global Markets P&L and P&L Explain production by carrying ad-hoc investigations or complementary controls with the objective to suggest and/or drive improvements of LOD1 process, controls and data
- Develop the capacity to perform an independent P&L analysis of the Global Markets trading revenues with Finance for Management and Regulators
- Coordinating the actions of departments involved in valuation (Front Office, Risk-GM, V&RC, MO and other Finance teams), inclusive of the setting of responsibility schemes
- Responsibility to manage the Governance on Valuation through Monthly and Quarterly committees that aim to validate the level of Fair Value Reserves, IPV, Day One Profit deferral, XVAs, Prudent Valuation
- Responsible of the methodologies for Day One Profit deferral and Observability (IFRS 13 Levelling)
- Guaranteeing the comprehensiveness and quality of controls concerning valuation
- Participating in the methodology discussions linked to Fair Value and Prudent value
- Resolution facilitation or escalation of valuation disagreements and control deficiencies
- Reporting findings to Business heads, and to a senior valuation governance forum involving CIB management, Risk and Group Finance
Profile and Skills to Success
- Master’s Degree in Finance, Financial Markets, Applied Mathematics for Economics or Engineering
- Fluency in English
- Basic Knowledge in Python and Excel (including VBA and core functions as Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF)
- Knowledge of Fixed Income and/or Equity Derivatives products
- Fixed Income and/or Equity Derivatives related market data and pontentially their sources, and the main associated products knowledge
- Knowledge of risk concepts
- Basic knowledge of mathematical finance concepts and models
- Basic knowledge in Fair value concepts and Marked to Market Valuation methodologies
- Team player
- Positive attitude to comply with deadlines and objectives
- Effective organisation and time management, including ability to prioritise workload
- Quality focused, detail oriented and problem-solving skills
- Good communication Skills

- Within Standards & Controls department, Trading Book P&L Oversight team functional responsibility is the LOD2 on Economical P&L and P&L Explain in the Trading Book while Valuation Risk & Governance Team is dedicated to the supervision of the entire Fair and Prudent Valuation chain
