YOUR JOB IN A NUTSHELL

As a Linux Operating Systems OPS Engineer, you will join the CCDA Data Exchange & Storage squad in our Brussels Headquarters, where Agile methodologies drive innovation in IT infrastructure. You’ll act as the bridge between business needs and technical execution, ensuring seamless integration of applications on Linux platforms while collaborating with our service provider BP2I. This role offers a dynamic environment where your expertise in Linux systems will directly support the bank’s digital transformation and operational excellence.

AND IN DETAIL

  • You will integrate BNP Paribas Fortis applications onto Linux platforms—physical, virtual, and on-premises cloud—by aligning engineering rules with both internal and BP2I standards.
  • Your day-to-day includes supporting IT clients in resolving technical challenges, such as configuring Linux environments for new applications or troubleshooting performance bottlenecks.
  • You’ll ensure compliance with BNP Paribas Fortis and BP2I procedures across demand, incident, problem, change, security, and release management, acting as a process guardian.
  • Collaborate with the Community of Practice to drive improvements in Linux service delivery, e.g., automating deployment workflows or optimizing system monitoring.
  • You’ll use tools like ServiceNow for ticketing and Agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) to manage tasks, with flexibility for 50% remote work and on-site collaboration.
  • Work closely with applicative/product Tribes to translate business requirements into technical solutions, e.g., advising on Linux architecture for a new AI-driven customer portal.
  • Contribute to a transversal technology team managing Linux OS for both "Run the Bank" stability and "Change the Bank" innovation projects.

YOUR TALENTS AND COMPETENCES

  • You thrive in collaborative environments, balancing teamwork with autonomy to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Your client-focused mindset ensures you translate technical constraints into clear guidance for internal stakeholders.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in French or Dutch (B2 minimum) and English (B1 minimum) to document procedures and liaise with global teams.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate evolving priorities in an Agile setting, e.g., shifting from incident resolution to a security patch rollout.
  • Expertise in Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, or similar), with hands-on experience in system administration, scripting (Bash/Python), and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow for IT service management and Agile methodologies (e.g., sprint planning, retrospectives).
  • While no formal degree is required, equivalent experience in IT infrastructure, operations, or a related field is essential.
  • You hold a Bachelor’s or university degree (or equivalent experience) in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, with a focus on operational quality, observability, or system reliability.
