On March 4th, 2009, 60 students interested in careers in finance had a chance to talk to experts from BNP Paribas' Investment Solutions during a conference on the current economic crisis, organised in Paris.
Investment Solutions also invited 60 students to an innovative conference in Paris, including 40 members of the "Club des Jeunes Financiers", as well as 20 interns working at BNP Paribas Wealth Management and BNP Paribas Investment Partners.
The subject of the symposium was "Consequences of the current crisis for the world economy. A look at market performance and investors' behaviour: What are the outlooks for the rest of 2009?"
Three experts from the Investment Solutions pole offered insights into these issues: Géraud Haissat, a strategic analyst from Investment Solutions Corporate Development (who has since joined the corporate and investment banking branch), François Roux, Head of Business Intelligence at BNP Paribas Investment Partners, and Guillaume Pietruschi, Head of Advisory Services and Execution at BNP Paribas Wealth Management.
The "Club des Jeunes Financiers" has about 200 members at present. They are both students and young professionals who share a common interest in the financial industry and promote careers and the finance culture.
Investment Solutions regularly develops innovative direct contact through a variety of initiatives. Events such as this provide an excellent vehicle to promote the business to future "financiers" with concrete presentations of the business. "This type of alternative sourcing looks beyond conventional channels like forums at schools or jobs websites. We've gotten tremendously positive feedback from the students who attended", says Caroline Tillaux, Campus Manager for Investment Solutions and organizer of the conference.
Following the resounding success of this first edition, a second conference is being planned for October 2009 and will include additional Investment Solutions businesses.
