Meet Julita Tereszkiewicz, Acting Manager for TFMO, Polska
“What I like most about my job is seeing a smile on the faces of my team members."
Julita calls herself the Smile Fairy of the BNP Paribas’ Warsaw office. In other words: She leads a team that performs ownership verification and record keeping of the transactions for clients in Luxembourg and France. Here, she explains her “recipe” for mobilizing her team.
What sort of special abilities makes you uniquely capable of doing your job?
Julita: As a manager of 45 people, I need to take care of my people. The best part about my job is when at the end of the day, after all the problems have been solved, I see a smile on people’s faces. Although a job like this one can be quite serious, I try my best to make sure that each and every member of my team is happy at work. This team has grown exponentially in the past few years, and I am always flying around to ensure that the people I manage are satisfied while they work on very demanding accounts. I strive to bring good vibes into every interaction I have in the workplace.
What misconceptions did you have about this work before you started?
Julita: I thought my work would be simple. But after training, I realized I had been wrong. I now know that navigating transaction and client identity verification requires a lot of responsibility, focus, analytical skills, and knowing how to work with clients.
What were some unexpected things you learned about yourself through this job?
Julita: I’m very much a people-person. I like being a manager and I love working with people. While some people think you must have specific experience with transaction management before entering a role like this, my experience shows that this isn’t the case! Coming from another field gives me a fresh perspective that I use to guide my team today.
