Debt Markets is part of the Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) department of BNP Paribas and the market leader in EMEA in Leveraged Finance working through integrated teams across Europe. Within Debt Markets, the Credit & Portfolio Management (CPM) team works alongside the LBO Origination team, and is in charge of monitoring and managing a portfolio of larger, private equity owned Leveraged Buyout (LBO) transactions from inception throughout their lifecycle, monitoring performance, handling amendments, waivers and restructurings and actively participating in deal teams working on re-financings, add-on facilities and secondary buyouts, and this  in a wide variety of economic sectors. 

In a highly dynamic and fast-paced working environment you will perform advanced credit analysis of non-investment grade companies, get to thoroughly understand different business models, how they evolve over time and throughout macro-economic cycles, work together with a cross-border European team of strongly motivated investment banking colleagues, and serve a dynamic and demanding client base.

AND IN DETAIL 

Depending on your level of experience you will be in charge of your own portfolio of companies based in the DACH region or start by assisting senior portfolio managers in view of becoming in charge of your own portfolio over a horizon of 2 to 3 years.

  • You analyze financial reporting, due diligence reports and participate in management calls and meetings thereby becoming the expert on the files under your control through in-depth credit analysis and risk assessment. You prepare annual and quarterly reviews as well as other internal notes when required.
  • You manage amendment requests, e.g. add-on facilities, recapitalizations, re-pricings , Amend & Extend (A&E) requests and covenant resets.
  • You manage financial restructuring processes for underperforming portfolio companies, with the support of the dedicated internal restructuring team. (including negotiations with other stakeholders of the terms and conditions of restructuring agreements).
  • You support Leveraged Finance Capital Markets (LFCM) teams in pitching, structuring and executing new transactions on your portfolio, typically with a HY bond or loan distribution component in close cooperation with Rating Advisory and Syndicate teams.
  • You manage all internal credit related workstreams related to your portfolio companies with relevant stakeholders, in particular with Risk in credit committee where you present and defend your analysis, but equally vis-à-vis Coverage bankers & Corporate Finance colleagues, Legal, Middle & Back Office, Compliance and KYC.
  • You make proposals to divest exposure when appropriate.
  • You work on selective secondary market purchases.

YOUR TALENTS AND COMPETENCES

  • You have strong analytical competences, a critical mindset and preliminary experience in financial modelling.
  • You have the ability to multi-task and work under pressure, and are tempted by a high intensity, high impact environment.
  • You pay attention to detail.
  • You own a university degree from a reputable university or business school in Business Administration, Finance or Economics or a comparable education.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of German is a plus but not a requirement.
  • You have between 3 and 6 years of experience in credit analysis or structured finance.
