MISSION AND GOALS

Prepares monthly and quarterly financial reports for regulatory authorities and for internal purposes as well as the production of IFRS compliant financial statements for BNPP in Canada:

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

This position involves personnel management (two accounting analysts).

Manage staff and supervise the daily activities of the Regulatory Reporting team, namely:

overseeing the production of financial reports for regulatory authorities (including OSFI, Statistics Canada and IIROC);

ensuring that the reports are prepared according to the specifications of each of the regulatory bodies;

leading the development of the reporting required to comply with new requirements and integrate new products and/or operations;

preparing statutory financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards;

supervise the preparatory work, including reconciliations, preparation of worksheets and making adjustment entries;

preparing audit files and answer questions from external auditors, including the preparation of certain ad hoc worksheets requested by them; and

coordinating task distribution, succession, cross-training and knowledge sharing.

Ensure accurate reports are distributed and submitted in a timely manner.

Conduct high-level audits/reviews of monthly and quarterly reports, ask questions, ensure audit leads and that data are complete, consistent and accurate. Ensure the control and integrity of the data stored in the tools/systems for which their team is responsible.

Ensure that all of the company’s reporting procedures are up-to-date.

Projects, system support, operational process improvement

Manage the operation, integrity and control of all reporting tools and operational processes.

Coordinate and manage new versions of reporting tools, as well as system changes/enhancements to facilitate new or modified reporting requirements. And:

Coordinate implementation with all affected groups.

Contribute to user acceptance testing and diagnose with deployment.

Develop system and operational process improvements in work flow production, control procedures and organization to increase team effectiveness and efficiency and recommend system improvements.

Other management functions

Ensure that the team observes the Bank’s policies and procedures. 

Take responsibility for the operational staffing process (recruitment, hiring and training) and ensure that staff skills and competencies meet operational needs.

Establish short- and long-term resource plans for their team; set performance targets and performance standards/indicators; conduct performance evaluations; provide coaching and counselling; and provide professional development for staff.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent training

Seven years of experience in accounting combined with excellent computer skills

Accounting designation

Relevant experience in implementing accounting systems, an asset

 

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Excellent knowledge of data processing: data analysis, data flow between software (relational database tables or mapping tables), distinguishing between “input” data source vs. “output” object-based data

Proficiency in accounting

Bilingualism

Knowledge of banking products and/or regulatory requirements (OSFI), an asset

Knowledge of IFRS
