Credit Analyst

Within BNP Paribas Singapore, the Credit Analysts is responsible for the preparing of the credit proposal package including performing of credit analysis (including spreading of financial statements, financial and rating analysis, portfolio monitoring etc) for both existing and new clients of the Bank.

The Credit Analysts is part of the APAC- CIB- Commodity Corporate Coverage team and will work closely with the Relationship Managers with respect to both credit and KYC matters mentioned above.

The  Credit Analysts are responsible for the following main activities:

1. Coordination of the whole credit process (Risk Corporate, Commodity Trade Solutions and

    other business lines) along with the Relationship Manager in the Commodity Corporate

    Coverage department 

The responsibilities will be diverse and varying, reliant on work required to be actioned. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: -


  • Prepare rigorous and synthetic credit proposals with accurate and comprehensive analysis in line with the bank policies, including analysis of financial statements, industry, economic data and identification, analysis and presentation of all key risks.

  • Spreading of financial statements

  • Understanding the Return on Risk Weighted Capital (RAROC) model to optimize revenue

  • Proposing to the credit committee appropriate ratings & recovery rates, using internal tools and    judgment.

  • Presentation of credit proposals to local credit committees

  • Ensure that annual reviews / transactions deadlines are met.

  • Perform portfolio reviews, periodic covenant checks, and security monitoring as required in line with approval conditions of respective files

  • To contribute to any other portfolio or credit administrative and statistical works as required such  as sector analysis, risk policy committees and watchlist / doubtful processes

    • Maintain good knowledge and understanding of the bank policies, processes, risk rating tools,   etc.

    •  Maintain good knowledge of the sector and industry developments. 

    • Liaison with different business lines, Risk Corporate and various BNP Paribas networks to ensure smooth and timely credit process to ensure that all global reviews are properly and timely executed and to minimize overdue files in collaboration with Relationship Managers (coordination role) and other stakeholders.

    • Monitor clients’ credit evolution and immediately alert the management for any early warning signals. This includes, but not limited to, timely update of financial spreadsheets, regular compliance checks on financial covenants change in ratings or any major event or material evolution.

    • Meet with clients jointly with Relationship Managers, when and where possible, to deepen the understanding of a credit

    • Participation in discussions and on potential deals


    • Provide support on KYC and due diligence activities, by complying with procedures and practices stipulated by the CIB KYC policy

    • Perform background checks and reviews in strict accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies

    • Contribute to the collection, review and documentation of relevant due diligence information

    •  Participate in various projects and initiatives as directed by manager to deliver changes / quality  output with respect to operational processes, policies, data quality, regulatory initiatives and strategies etc.

    • Work collaboratively with other relevant team members and stakeholders to achieve set objectives  and resolve any issues during daily tasks


    • Keep accurate track record of all assigned requests; from receipt through execution of requests

    •  Strong team player, supporting team members and the department to maximize the efficiency   and effectiveness of the department

    • Communicate reliably and professionally with both internal and external stakeholders

    •  Participation in projects linked to improving credit process efficiency
