Responsibilities
• Act as ambassador for the department, ensure client service levels are set, adhered to and maintained
• Actively support the Acting Head in managing the department
• Manage the team of bookkeepers including, performance management, appraisals, recruitment etc.
• Prepare weekly KPI statistics for the of department for review & discussion with Acting Head of Rural Client Finance
Oversee:
o Daily payment run approvals
o Bank reconciliation approvals
o Compliance logs
o Direct Debit collections
o Payroll function
o Raising of fees
• Ensure suspense accounts are reviewed and cleared down on a routine (monthly) basis
• Prepare and review client rental statements
• Manage weekly task-list -and holiday cover within bookkeeping team in liaison with the Acting Head of the department
• Preparation and submission of Non-Resident Landlord Returns
• Carry out bookkeeping systems administration audits and checks
• Monitor progress of the team, supporting and mentoring where required to ensure each member of the team can give of their best
• Support the team in assisting with client queries, taking the lead as appropriate; works closely on a day-to-day basis with all members of the team
• Provide regular training and updates on processes and systems to colleagues across the wider business
• Contributes to positively to projects and proves improvements
• Work collaboratively with the Acting Head of the Department and the Head of Shared Services

Qualifications
Studying towards ACCA or equivalent (or recently qualified)
Experience
• Previous experience of working in a senior bookkeeping and payroll position
• Proficient in the use of Word, Excel & PowerPoint
• Previous experience of working to deadlines
• Managing a medium sized dynamic team
