As a Transaction Analyst in our Energy & Infrastructure (E&I) – Project Finance team, you’ll play a pivotal role in executing and structuring debt financing solutions for high-impact projects in infrastructure, power & renewables, and low-carbon transition sectors across EMEA. Based in our Brussels office— part of a dynamic hub of 140+ professionals—you’ll collaborate with senior team members to drive sustainable financing initiatives, combining analytical rigor with hands-on deal execution in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
AND IN DETAIL
- Execute and model complex transactions: Develop and refine or review advanced financial models in Excel (including VBA) to assess project viability, cashflow projections, and risk scenarios for deals like offshore wind farms or solar projectsin the EMEA region.
- Support deal origination and client engagement: Prepare screening memos, pitch decks, and commercial proposals for potential clients, translating technical financial data into compelling narratives for stakeholders like investors, developers, and public sector partners and this for both advisory and arranging mandates
- Drive due diligence and documentation: Contribute to credit proposals, information memoranda, and term sheet negotiations, ensuring alignment with legal, risk, and compliance standards while interacting with internal legal teams and external counsel.
- Collaborate across borders: Work closely with colleagues in Paris, London, Milan, and Madrid to structure cross-border financing solutions, leveraging the team’s regional expertise to tailor deals to local market conditions.
- Bridge execution and portfolio management: Assist in the handover of closed deals to the Credit Portfolio Management (CPM) team, ensuring seamless transition by documenting key financial metrics, covenants, and monitoring requirements.
- Master multitasking under pressure: Balance tight deadlines for KYC onboarding, profitability analyses, and internal rating processes while maintaining precision in high-stakes environments.
- Grow through exposure: Gain visibility into diverse financing structures—from limited-recourse project finance to hybrid debt-equity solutions—while receiving mentorship from sector specialists in infrastructure, renewables, and energy transition.
YOUR TALENTS AND COMPETENCES
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset: You thrive in data-driven environments, with a knack for spotting trends in cash flow analyses and translating complex financial concepts into actionable insights—critical for the Project/Process cluster.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling: Proficiency in building dynamic, error-free models (including VBA macros) is essential, with prior experience in project finance or corporate finance modelling strongly preferred.
- Client-focused communication: Ability to articulate technical details clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders, aligning with the Commercial cluster’s emphasis on negotiation and proactivity.
- Multilingual and multicultural agility: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Dutch and/or French is a significant asset, while Spanish or German is a plus for regional deal coordination.
- Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or Law, coupled with 2–4 years of experience in investment banking, corporate banking, or credit analysis—and a passion for sustainable energy transition.
- Organisational resilience: Proven ability to prioritise tasks under tight deadlines, manage competing priorities, and adapt to evolving deal dynamics in a fast-moving, team-oriented setting.
