About Business line/Function:

The Intermediate Holding Company (“IHC”) program structured at the U.S. level across poles of activities of BNP Paribas provides guidance, supports the analysis, impact assessment and drives adjustments of the U.S. platform’s operating model due to the drastic changes introduced by the Enhanced Prudential Standards (“EPS”) for Foreign Banking Organizations (“FBOs”) finalized by the Federal Reserve in February 2014, implementing Section 165 of U.S Dodd-Frank Act.

The Data Office Team is part of the Information Technology Group which works simultaneously on a wide range of projects arising from business, strategic initiatives, regulatory changes and reengineering of existing applications to improve functionality and efficiency.

Position Purpose

The role will report to the Data Management Lead and will be primarily responsible for implementation and ongoing governance of an enterprise Business Glossary as a definitive dictionary of business terms and relationships used across the enterprise. The definitions must be designed to engender a common understanding of the term for all stakeholders involved in data governance and Regulatory reporting teams.

The position requires working in a virtual team and international environment and is multidisciplinary in nature. It involves coordination with other locations and divisions of BNP Paribas as necessary. It is important that the candidate should have strong financial products knowledge along with high analytical skills and attention to details.

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

• Able to read and interpret BRDs, Technical specs to perform functional testing of data Lineage.

• Read various US regulatory reports / forms and able to summarize understanding for each line item in summary format for IT team to create lineage & glossary.

• Challenge status quo and propose process enhancement ideas.

• Able to review deliverables of Lineage created by IT department. Communicate changes to IT team for lineage and test the releases.

• Able to extract required information from lots of excel files containing huge volume of data. 

• Able to summarize critical issues in commentary format along with charts, bar or pie diagrams and able to generate status report for senior and executive management group.

• Create SOP's, perform knowledge transfer and cross training for proper backup in team.

• Effective communication across multiple teams including development team (IT) and other stakeholders. Ability to translate business requirements and work with development teams throughout resolution, implementation and delivery.

Contributing Responsibilities

• Create BRD, functional specifications, flow charts, Root cause analysis and other diagnostic documentations.

• Have a good understanding of the data flows and understand its lifecycle of source to destination.

• Identify risk in process and propose / implement controls

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

• Able to work with large data in excel and suggest process enhancement ideas.

• Knowledge of advanced formulas & pivot tables in excel is must.

• Good working knowledge of tools such as Collibra, Ab-Initio, Informatica Metadata Manager

• SharePoint, MS Word, MS Visio, Power BI & PowerPoint

Specific Qualifications (if required)

• Minimum 3 years of experience along with Bachelor's Degree - in management, finance, science, economics, related field or equivalent experience.

• Prior experience in similar domain.

Education Level:     Bachelor Degree or equivalent

Experience Level    At least 3 years

• A self-starter who can take the process a level ahead and have the ability to think out of the box, suggest changes and challenge status quo.           

• Ask questions and understand the larger picture for the tasks assigned.

• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
