In May, the average CO2 emissions of the leased cars of Arval Netherlands were decreased to 120 grams per kilometer. Arval is now on track to achieve their objectives of the Cleaner Car Contracts, which states an average emission of 120 grams per kilometer.
In 2010, Arval registered for the Gold Fleet of Cleaner Car Contracts, an initiative of the Foundation for Nature and Environment. Herewith, Arval promised more efficient cars on the road and a reduction of the CO2 emissions of the Dutch fleet. Cleaner Car Contracts stated the objective to reduce the average CO2 emissions from deployed cars in 2012, to be less than 120 grams per kilometer. Arval took a big step, by achieving this objective already in May this year. It shows how well Arval is on their way to a green fleet.
Sustainable fleet management is high on the agenda at Arval. Jeff Bollards, Managing director of Arval: “In two years time, the average CO2 emissions decreased by 20 grams per kilometer. It shows an increased awareness among both customers as drivers. To reinforce our goal we propose a less polluting car scheme, we inform drivers about their fuel consumption and finally we help them choosing an environmentally friendly car.
The International project Cleaner Car Contracts is an initiative of the Foundation for Nature and Environment. The main objective is to get more efficient cars on the road. More than 70 leasing companies and fleet owners signed an agreement.
Tjerk Wagenaar, CEO of the Foundation for Nature and Environment: “Compliments for Arval. If you realize a reduction of CO2 emission by 15% in two years time, you really make a difference. It shows that the efforts of the sector are paying off. The climate and environmental benefits are clear and also companies and drivers beneft from it. Triple green profits. Efficient leased cars indeed consume less fuel and are furthermore fiscally attractive.”
