Position Purpose

This strategic leadership role oversees and drives marketing and communications for BNP Paribas' Securities Services business (Securities Services) in Singapore. The candidate will develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy to enhance brand perception and foster client engagement in Southeast Asia. Leveraging a multi-channel communication plan, the candidate will ensure BNP Paribas remains at the forefront of the industry, providing industry insights to clients, prospects, and market influencers.

The role involves close collaboration with local, regional and global business teams to deliver a cohesive and impactful marketing strategy. The individual will report to the Head of Marketing & Communications, Asia Pacific.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing Leadership

  • Develop and implement the annual marketing strategy, including identifying key themes and allocating budget to the most effective channels.
  • Lead the tactical activation of the marketing plan, ensuring alignment with global and regional marketing ambitions and approval from the regional head of marketing and communications.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external providers, including trade media publications, suppliers, and industry associations.

Content Creation and Media Relations:

  • Create engaging content for clients and the market across various channels, including events, paid and unpaid media, and sales support documents.
  • Identify story angles, create press releases, and leverage relationships with trade media journalists to secure favourable coverage for BNP Paribas.
  • Develop thought leadership articles, news, and announcements to maintain brand visibility in Singapore.

Event Management:

  • Identify and manage opportunities to engage with clients and prospects through industry events and BNP Paribas-hosted events.
  • Oversee event management, including speaker liaison, venue/IT management, and content creation for pre-event, event, and post-event promotion.
  • Ensure events are delivered on time, within budget, and meet predefined KPIs.

Digital Marketing and Social Media:

  • Write and manage social media posts (LinkedIn) in collaboration with the global social media team to enhance regional visibility.
  • Work with the global website team to drive and increase traffic to the website.

Internal Communications:

  • Develop and activate an internal communications plan, including managing town halls, project announcements, and intranet articles.
  • Create visibility for global and regional leaders with local staff to foster engagement with strategic priorities.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Compile and interpret insights and data to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
  • Monitor campaign performance data and maintain a marketing metrics dashboard.

Risk Management Framework:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the Bank’s policies and procedures. 
  • Monitor and report on risk management activities, providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Collaborate with the risk management team to address any emerging risks and implement corrective actions.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the annual marketing budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Monitor and control expenditures to ensure adherence to the budget and maximize ROI.
  • Provide regular budget reports and updates to senior management, highlighting key variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with finance and procurement teams to ensure efficient use of funds and compliance with financial policies.

Specific Qualifications and Experience Required

  • 5+ years of experience in a Marketing and Communications role, ideally within a financial services organization.
  • Strong understanding of the financial services industry and custody business is an advantage.
  • Proven experience managing stakeholders and working with regional and local teams across a matrix organization.
  • Exceptional writing skills, capable of producing compelling messages for various channels.
  • Strong project management capabilities, able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented self-starter with a focus on driving outcomes.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and client focus.
  • Knowledge of the APAC media landscape is a plus.
  • Motivation and drive to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Sound understanding of design and presentation principles, including digital marketing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint. Experience in video filming/editing is an advantage.
