Finance Capital Market Products Controller - Liquidity micro reconciliation

About the job

  • As Liquidity reporting analyst, as part of Finance and Strategy team, it will be your responsibility to produce financial reporting and provide all synthesis and analysis required to manage the Liquidity Reporting of BNP Paribas EMEA entities, as well as to ensure the control and reliability of financial data required to produce the Liquidity reporting, in coordination with the Group / Business Lines
  • Based on your global knowledge of financial products and MO / Finance systems, to correlate, explain and find solutions that aim at improving and standardizing the control processes of the reconciliation of Liquidity figures, by proposing adjustments and coordinating with experts on the matters
  • As such the main purpose is to reconcile at the most granular level possible Accounting vs Eco data on Balance Sheet positions on a variety of financial products to be able to explain discrepancies and find permanent solutions to clean those
  • Weekend working and long days during quarter closing periods to be considered and will be compensated according to Bank policy

Your Main Activities Are

  • Gaining a global understanding of Financial activities, accounting and economic (Middle Office) systems and processes
  • Building relations within the sites, including in Finance, Middle Office, Back Office, IT and Management
  • Identification of common best practices and publish and implement this procedure in all sites, updating periodically as required
  • Report management on the quarterly findings and reconciliations performed
  • Assist in identifying operational process improvements in production, control procedures, and workflow organization to increase the team’s efficiency and effectiveness
  • Liaison with different stakeholders, experts, IT, in order to progress on the resolution of issues identified during closing period
  • Developing the target operating model (Improve and standardize the Tactical solution (Project like) to a permanent and more efficient process)
  • Ensuring consistency of requirements across FINANCE platforms
  • Accompanying the Finance community in the transformation

Profile and Skills to Success

  • Master’s degree in accounting or finance
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in Corporate Investment Banking, either from within a bank or through an external provider (Audit/ consultancy etc.) or in Data analysis
  • Basic knowledge of banking balance sheets and its main components
  • Strong knowledge of Global Markets products and their accounting scheme (Derivatives, Securities, Repurchase agreement – REPO)
  • Proficiency in SAP BI, MS Office Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF) and business intelligence tools knowledge such as Power BI
  • Strong analytical mind, to investigate, understand the root causes of breaks
  • Capacity to lead investigations in autonomy, capacity to lead investigation for a task force, coordination of investigation and provide feedback
  • Fluent in English both spoken and written
  • Natural ability to learn and understand various general ledgers and Middle office systems
  • Strong communication skills and able to effectively interact with people outside of the Finance area
  • Good organisation skills
  • Strong control background and ability to question and challenge the information received
  • Curious by nature, rigorous, careful to detail, reliable, open-minded, well-organized, efficient, methodical and spot-on
