Business Overview:

The Diversified Industrials and Services group is the largest of BNP Paribas’ Corporate & Investment Coverage Groups in the US, the others being TMT, Energy/Natural Resources/Energy Transition, FIG, and HCR (Healthcare, Consumer, Retail). The group comprises the range of Industrials and Services subsectors, including: General Industrials, Chemicals, Business Services, Auto & Transportation, Building Products, Basic Materials, and Paper & Packaging. It is also a fast growing segment of BNP Paribas’ Investment Banking franchise, with the ambition to grow. Currently revenues are approximately $400m across Investment Banking (M&A, Corporate Finance, Capital Markets), Leveraged Finance, and Corporate Banking. The stated plan is to grow both the total revenues from Industrial clients, as well as increase the mix of investment banking (idea-driven/fee-driven) revenues. The total team today is approximately 50 bankers, including 8-10 MDs, 10 Directors, and 30-35 junior team members.

Responsibilities:

 

Given the high volume of activity in the Industrial Services sector within the Industrials Unified Sector, BNP Paribas US is seeking to further grow its coverage capabilities in this space with a key Vice President hire. The Vice President will further the bank’s strategic importance to this client franchise and help drive the client strategy across all CIB products, with the goal of driving sustainable value creation, revenue growth and institutionalizing relationships for the bank.

The Vice President will engage with the broader the Industrial Services investment banking team, with clients, with all business line stakeholders, and with risk and compliance functions.

The ideal candidate will bring deep sector expertise, senior-level relationships with financial institutions, and a track record of generating and leading transactions. It is important that the candidate brings an entrepreneurial mindset, and proven drive, determination and energy to develop and maintain a meaningful book of business.

This position will be located at the BNP Paribas US HQ in New York.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years experience in the financial services industry
  • Industrial Services sector expertise – i.e. white collar and blue collar services
  • Excellent working knowledge of the broad banking environment
  • Proven ability to develop, maintain and commercialize client relationships with Industrial Services companies and Sponsor clients active in the sector
  • Track record of successful transaction generation and execution across the product spectrum – M&A, debt and equity financings, etc.
  • Strong transaction, risk and client judgement
  • Knowledge of relevant banking regulations
  • Ability to mentor junior colleagues
  • A “team player” who can collaborate well internally and work effectively across the firm’s various industry and product teams

The expected starting salary range for this position is starting at $250,000 annually. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.
