Asset Management - Investment - Research Analyst, Greater China Equities

ROLE DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE

TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE GREATER CHINA INVESTMENT TEAM PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES WITH HIGH QUALITY INVESTMENT INSIGHT, INDUSTRY ANALYSIS AND INDIVIDUAL STOCK'S INVESTMENT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE SECTORS/INDUSTRIES COVERED.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Investment analysis: To identify investment ideas, conduct fundamental research, evaluate opportunities / risks of technology sectors with a focus on hardware, semiconductor and technology equipment segments in Hong Kong, onshore China and Taiwan markets. Demonstrate knowledge in disruptive emerging technology trends globally and capability to compare investment ideas in the scope of global technology landscape
• Stock recommendation: To perform proprietary fundamental research, build company and sector models, evaluate risk / reward of investment cases and communicate ideas effectively to the investment teams.  To draft and maintain the appropriate documentation (investment notes, company/sector models, actionable ideas, meeting notes, industry review etc) for effective communication

• Collaboration: To act as a team player to help the team to deliver the best investment performance, which involves proactively collaborating with other team members to evaluate stock ideas beyond one’s core sector coverage.  Collaborate with technology specialists located outside the region to evaluate, share and compare technology related ideas
• Investment process improvement: To proactively propose and execute ideas that help the team to improve the portfolio construction and investment process 
• Commercial Support: To support BNP's marketing and client engagement efforts

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• All majors are welcomed, but require exposure and good understanding of finance, accounting and investment principles (e.g. related courses).  CFA a plus. 
• Sector requirement:
  • Technology sectors in Hong Kong, Onshre China, and Taiwan markets with a focus on hardware, semiconductors, and technology equipments (i.e. excluding software and internet) (
  • Open minded in covering other non-tech in addition to either of the core responsibilities above if needed
• Passionate about investment, with preference to those with real-life stock investment experience and extracurricular activities in related fields.  
• Strong curiosity on business and economics, and a passionate about continuous learning, as well as traits of critical thinking & intellectual honesty
• Work well in a team based environment.  Capable of defending one’s own view but also reflecting on and opened minded to new ideas.  Able to work collaboratively with teammates to tackle the investment cases that require input from multiple sector expertise
• Strong communication skills.  Ability to communicate investment ideas and their key drivers in a succinct manner that is supported by detailed fundamental analysis.  Proactively sharing relevant data and stock experience to teammates who cover different sectors
• Capable of evaluating risks in a systematic way from fundamental, investment and ESG perspectives 
• At least 3 years’ related work experience that involves industry and company analysis, valuation, and risk assessment of investment cases.  
• Experience in A-share, H-share and Taiwan stock markets. Experience in private capital market investment a plus 
• Proficient Mandarin and English language skills essential
