About the job
The Trading Assistant Team is key to the smooth operating of the Credit Repo Financing business within BNPP. It is essential that the team (based in London and Lisbon) has a strong relationship with the sales/trading desk in order to provide a seamless process to our clients from Pre trade to post trade. Given the importance of the role, Trading Assistants have a considerable exposure to BNP Paribas’ Global Market business by working closely with Traders, Sales and Management.
Your Main Activities Are
• Cover traders for CRF desk and the full spectrum of credit products traded. Loans, Bonds associated Swaps
• Manual booking of Client Bond & Loan trades allocated to TRS facilities on trade date. Post trade event management. Processing of trade life cycle events. Action trade amendments and rebooking on behalf of FO. Provide feedback on amendment queries. Booking of new TRS trades when required. Distribute daily reports
• FO point of contact for client queries on TRS operational issues. Cashflow reconciliation, Position reporting, (Settlement issues, Corp action and paydown events, SWIFT enquiries, Lender Notice enquiries, General enquiries)
• Liaise and engage with Loans Middle & Back Office to resolve settlement and payment issues as required. Participate in weekly calls on behalf of FO to discuss ongoing topics and settlement status
• Oversee monthend resets and paydowns on TRS trades. Book internal & external Monthend fees once agreed
• Document tasks of the role and ensure responsibilities are understood and efficiently managed
• Development of tools and process improvement for the team & Business
• Handling Trading, Sales and Management queries
• Direct contribution to BNPP operational permanent control framework by following desk procedures and escalating incidents to management
• Work in close collaboration with the onshore (London) team
• Follow the necessary mandatory compliance training the employee has been assigned to, based on risk exposure, necessary to maintain appropriate business and compliance knowledge and understanding in order to be fully competent to undertake the role. These trainings considered as mandatory according to local regulatory requirements
Profile and Skills to Success
- Academic background in Finance, Economics or similar areas
- Interest in Financial markets
- Strong reasoning, natural curiosity, pro-activity
- Communication skills- Fluency in English
- High level of professional ethics and integrity
- Resilience and capacity to work under considerable pressure
- Autonomous, entrepreneurial and with willingness to learn
- Coding skills advantageous but not mandatory (VBA/Python)
