The position at a glance

The mandate of the ORM is to support the CFO of his/her operating entity in the management of the operational risk and to ensure permanent control pillars requirements are met. Therefore, the ORM is responsible for identifying, assessing and mitigating operational risks, materializing, maintaining and improving the permanent control set-up, thus protecting the Bank. In addition, the ORM is responsible for alarming and escalating recurring weaknesses.

ORM team is the point of contact of Finance and Tax Department for LoD2 (Compliance, Risk-ORC or other LoD2 functions). The ORM role is to provide LoD2 with information allowing them to facilitate their independent challenge of the LOD1.

In detail

The AVP / VP ORM position has responsibilities for assisting in the implementation of the Finance & Tax operational and permanent controls framework, action plans, and initiatives.

  • Support and coordinate the bi-annual Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA). Manage the maintenance and required updates of the RCSA documentation with respective business control owners and ORM teams.
  • Coordinate Potential and Historical Incidents for Finance & Tax; along with Transversal controls applicable to the group.
  • Alert and escalate to the relevant level of management any operational risk incident and any recurring weakness.
  • Coordinate and assist in the preparation of the quarterly operational risk forum meeting. Working across the organization to collect, synthesize, and prepare meeting materials.
  • Maintain risk taxonomy in collaboration with Operational Risk Committee (ORC) and transversal risk teams.
  • Initiate and follow-up on action plans consistent with Finance & Tax’s risk appetite.
  • Contribute with implementing a permanent control framework in compliance with policies, procedures, and guidelines.
               Assist in the annual update of the Business Continuity and Business Impact Assessments of the Finance & Tax organization.
  •  Perform ad-hoc reporting and assessments to senior management.

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in financial services with a background in Operational Risk and/or Audit.
  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Finance or Accounting).
  • Demonstrate understanding of the need for controls and procedures and their role as part of the overall internal controls framework.
  • An outstanding ability to apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written) to senior management.
  • Ability to work effectively in geographically dispersed cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of Project Management skills – Strong problem solving and collaboration skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Power BI (must have), Power Query (must have), Word, PowerPoint).
  • Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge of the English is required.
