Business Overview:
The Marketing & Communications team oversees the protection, positioning, and promotion of BNP Paribas in the Americas for key stakeholders including employees, clients, and the broader market. The team is predominately focused on Corporate & Institutional Banking and works closely with CIB and Group communications teams for holistic coverage of marketing and communications across the bank. The components of the Marketing & Communications team include Strategy & Planning, Corporate Communications, and Business Line Marketing, Communications & Events. Corporate Communications includes both external and internal communications.

About the Role:
The role and function will lead the development and execution of an integrated communications strategy across both internal and external channels to enhance the BNP Paribas brand, ensure consistent messaging supporting strategic positioning for the Americas, and support key business line objectives across the Americas. This role will oversee the Heads of each Internal and External Communications, while working collaboratively with the Head of Business Marketing, Communications and Events and Brand, Strategy and Planning team to ensure a strategic, cohesive, client-centric approach across all marketing and communications efforts. Other facets of the job include alignment at a Group and CIB level in Paris and oversight of communications across the Americas (Canada and LatAm).
The role will report to the Americas Head of Marketing and Communications.
Responsibilities:
Transversal:
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior management on executive, internal and external communications, ensuring alignment of positioning and messaging with the bank’s objectives in the region, with a focus on crisis comms
- Create an integrated communications plan (executive, internal and external) for the Americas, leveraging the Marketing & Communications framework for ‘always on’/ evergreen programs, campaigns and BAU communications, aligning with the business and brand, strategy & planning teams
- Collaborate with communications teams in the region (Canada and LATAM) as well as at the Group and CIB level (Paris) to ensure consistency of messaging and to ensure Americas compliance with global communication initiatives
- Foster a corporate culture of transparency, accountability, and trust by infusing these attributes through all forms of communication
- Provide leadership to the Americas communications team, ensuring high performance and collaboration, teamwork and exemplary conduct
- Ensure control frameworks are in place, adhered to and monitored, notably on media and spokespeople
Internal Communications:
- Oversee the creation and execution of internal communications strategies that align with the bank’s objectives in the region and ensure consistent, clear messaging to employees at all levels, striving for optimal employee engagement
- Develop content and messaging for internal communications channels (newsletters, EchoNet, town halls etc.) to engage employees and foster alignment with the larger bank strategy
- Drive strong and effective executive communications, participating in executive-level speechwriting
- Collaborate and network with key stakeholders to optimize employee communications including key initiatives around ERG agendas, appraisals, training opportunities etc.
- Work closely with Corporate Communications teams across Canada and LATAM as well as at the Group level in Paris to align internal communications across regions and maintain consistency with global standards
- Develop and implement internal communications frameworks that ensure effective, transparent, and timely delivery of information across the bank
- Ensure we establish and track KPIs to measure the efficacy of internal communications efforts
External Communications:
- Oversee the external communications strategy, ensuring it promotes BNP Paribas’ brand and core business values across all external channels, including earned media, digital platforms, and social media
- Oversee the management and execution of media relations efforts, cultivating relationships with traditional media outlets such as journalists as well as additional multi-channel outlets to secure high-profile media coverage
- Lead proactive media outreach efforts, identifying opportunities that tell the bank’s story, enhance it’s brand, highlights its business achievements and showcases leadership in the industry
- Identify and secure speaking opportunities for senior executives at industry events, webinars, podcasts, and roundtables
- Oversee compelling media content, including press releases, feature articles, op-eds, and blog posts that effectively communicate BNP Paribas’ strategic priorities, key business initiatives, and market positioning
- Expand and manage the bank’s social and earned media presence across platforms such as LinkedIn, podcasts and other new forms of media that target a CIB audience
- Develop and implement external communication frameworks that ensure consistency, effectiveness, and agility in responding to external opportunities or crises
- Oversee development of key KPIs to measure the efficacy of external communication efforts
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
- 10 + years of experience in leading Corporate Communications, Media Relations, and Executive Communications teams, ideally in financial services or related industries serving corporate or institutional clients
- Proven ability to manage communications at a senior level, with particularly strong abilities around crisis comms, speech-writing and executive communication
- Experience in creating strategic and integrated, multi-channel communications plans that connect to business strategy across employee, clients and the broader target market
- Experience in ensuring appropriate risk controls frameworks is in place monitored and adhered to
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated effectiveness in presenting to executive teams
- Strong leadership, management, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders both internally and externally
- Expertise in tracking and measuring the performance of marketing, communications, and events strategies using KPIs to assess impact and performance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in investment banking or alternatively asset management or professional services
- Strong understanding of key domains as part of the bank’s strategy: growth, technology/innovation, sustainability, people, responsibility, and tennis
- Experience working in a diverse, matrix organization
- Language proficiency (particularly French, Spanish or Portuguese) is a plus but not required

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $220,000 to $260,000 annually. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.
