BNP Paribas Bulgaria has received the price "Investor in Community" in the year 2006, awarded as the the most socially responsible business leader. The price conferred by Ivailo Kalfin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Foreign Affaires Ministry, is to reward the project of Resto du Coeur who was set up by the collaborators, with the objective of helping the numerous old and disadvantaged people in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
Four hundred Bulgarian businesses leaders were present at the award-giving meeting. The meeting has been created in 2003 by Bulgarian Business Leader Forum (BBLF), an association who gathers the largest Bulgarian companies with the goal to promote ethical standards and good commercial practices.
The project of Resto du Coeur of BNP Paribas Bulgaria has been carried out four years ago, by the initiative of the territory manager, Ullrich Schubert, and was set up by the collaborators. During the winter 2002-2003, 150 meals were distributed each evening to the underprivileged old people who live in Sofia. Following the partnership with the Sofia City and several external sponsors, the project expanded considerably. For this winter, 1 600 meals are distributed each evening, from the first December till March 2007.
