One of the few sponsors of jazz musicians, the BNP Paribas foundation is pleased to be associated with the 2010 Martial Solal international jazz piano competition.

Although this event's renown is due in large part to the fame, talent, and generosity of the musician whose name it bears, it is equally due to the extremely high quality of its candidates, some of whom, having been discovered in previous competitions, have now joined the ranks of the greats: the likes of Tigran Hamasyan, Baptiste Trotignon, and Manuel Rocheman.

Now held every four years, the Martial Solal competition has counted an increased number of participants with each edition. These must go through an extremely broad selection process. This year, there will be 56 candidates from 16 countries, making this fifth competition one of the highlights of Paris's musical calendar.

The competition runs from 16 to 23 October 2010, and is held at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris – 14, rue de Madrid. Admission is free.
