A mobilisation of the RRF in France and beyond
Devastating fires are sweeping in France, disrupting the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. The number of people being evacuated continues to rise, and humanitarian needs are immense. The coming days are expected to be particularly challenging, due to a forecast of rising temperatures. In response to this situation, the Group is activating its Rescue & Recover Fund (RRF).
Fully mobilised, the French Red Cross is providing concrete support through its deployed teams and is intervening with evacuated populations, particularly in the South-West, a region severely affected.
The Rescue & Recover Fund will also help people affected in Europe through the work of local Red Cross branches:
- In Spain, the Spanish Red Cross (Cruz Roja) is assisting people evacuated from several areas near Madrid.
- In Italy, the Italian Red Cross (Croce Rossa) is also responding to the needs of affected communities in Puglia, Sardinia and Piedmont.
- In Portugal, Red Cross (Cruz Vermelha) is taking action to help people in the north and centre of the country.
The support of the Rescue & Recover Fund will strengthen the aid brought locally to meet the needs of people who have been evacuated (beds, hygiene kits, meals, psychological support, etc.) and thus demonstrate our European solidarity.
A stronger commitment: every donation makes a difference
The Group will match the amount of every donation made by BNP Paribas teams (active or retired members of the ADR) as well as to the customers of the Commercial Bank in France, up to a total of €200,000.
