Leaders for Tomorrow: Social Enterprise Hackathon

Published On 15.06.2018

Forty Leadership Talents from across the Group recently took part in the third edition of the Social Enterprise Hackathon, held from 14 to 17 May in Mumbai. This seminar aims to provide concrete solutions to challenges faced by six of BNP Paribas’s partner social enterprises and NGOs in India.

What is the Leaders for Tomorrow initiative?

The Leaders for Tomorrow initiative aims to identify and then proactively prepare the next generation of leaders in line with our business strategy and our transformation environment. In addition to the skills criteria, it seeks to deliver the diverse range of profiles which is a performance focus for BNP Paribas: men and women from a variety of cultural and career backgrounds. The challenge is to build succession plans for key posts on cross-functional executive committees. Sponsored by the Group executive committee, this initiative is key to supporting the company's transformation. It is designed to promote the next generation of leaders and to give them a role in bringing about change.

Who are the Leadership Talents?

Managers, backed by HR teams, identify the people who have a “Leadership Profile” or a unique combination of skills, experience and motivation, all of which are key to making a success of change and will enable them to move up quickly into more complex roles within the Group.

There are three levels of leadership: Emerging, Advanced and Top. The Leaders for Tomorrow initiative is dynamic. The Leadership Talent remains at a specific level for a maximum period of five years: this gives them enough time to acquire and consolidate new skills, and allows managers and HR to observe their progress.

The search for diverse profiles is crucial from the identification phase onwards.

Today, the 5,000 members of Leaders for Tomorrow come from 59 countries and 40% are women.
