#1 | "The crab that no longer wanted to give blood"
#2 | "The tomato that can waste everything"
A tomato or fruit deemed too unattractive to sell, or a food product approaching its sell-by date often ends up in the bin. This is just one facet of global food waste, which totals 1.3 billion tonnes per year*. To help tackle this issue, BNP Paribas Asset Management has invested €10 million - half of it through a fund created in partnership with the Solar Impulse Foundation (SIF) - in an impact start-up that collaborates with all stakeholders in the food chain to scale up zero-waste solutions. * Source fao.org
#3 | "The 15 gigawatt question"
The management teams of BNP Paribas Asset Management's Environmental Strategy Group closely monitor how companies leveraging disruptive technologies - such as Fluence – can contribute to the energy transition. They invest in companies that provide solutions to the challenge of the intermittency in renewable energies such as solar or wind power.
#4 | "The forest that dreams of space"
BNP Paribas Asset Management has been committed to preserving natural capital for several years and in December 2022 it partnered with International Wood Company (IWC), a specialist in sustainable forestry investment and advisory services for over 30 years. This partnership, marked by the acquisition of a majority stake in IWC, led to the creation of a fund dedicated to sustainable forest management.
