Helping people excluded from the traditional banking system to carry out their projects

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach, BNP Paribas has become wolrdwide the preferred partner of many Microfinance Institutions (MFIs). BNP Paribas has even participated in the co-creation of two of them in Belgium and Luxembourg

With 296 million euros in assets under management in 2018 in the form of direct loans or investments, located in around 100 countries through dedicated funds or in direct intervention (17 countries concerned, including all countries in the domestic markets), microfinance also contributes to the Group's actions in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the same year, nearly 360,000 people excluded from the traditional banking system were able to carry out their projects and improve their standard of living indirectly thanks to the Group's financing.

To celebrate this long love story between BNP Paribas and microfinance, on Thursday, 14 February 2019, several leading players met, including Maria Nowak, Founding President of Adie and Antoine Sire, Head of Company Engagement at BNP Paribas. A review of the event in pictures.
