BNP Paribas Bulgaria is multiplying its social initiatives by supporting several projects which encourage the integration of the underprivileged. For the sixth consecutive year, BNP Paribas Bulgaria and the municipality of Sofia are supporting the "Soup Kitchen" project.
Launched in 2002 by BNP Paribas in Bulgaria, this year the humanitarian initiative will provide 1,650 hot meals a day to the city's underprivileged. Financed through donations made by staff, clients and partners of BNP Paribas Bulgaria, the meals are distributed in 12 centres across Sofia. The project is now expanding, particularly in the city of Varna, where this year 100 hot meals will be distributed daily.
In 2006, BNP Paribas received the "Investor in Community" award from the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum for this project. The bank's staff also organised the "One day out from the Orphanage" project which began in December 2007. This initiative allows children living in orphanages to enjoy a monthly recreational or cultural outing, such as visit to a museum, a circus, children's theatre productions, sports activities, etc.
