Jazz à l’Etage #8
Jazz à l’Étage is a festival that showcases all facets of Jazz without bias. The festival is an opportunity to discover artists from France and the world. The line-up for the 2017 programme is once again the epitome of this rationale. Laurent de Wilde, Natalia M. King, Aile Eraslan and other artists from all origins and walks of life are featured.
With the aim of spotlighting young talents from all horizons, the festival has been supporting young Breton artists for the past five years as part of its “Fresh Sound” programme. The lucky winner for 2017 is the talented saxophonist Ludovic Ernault.
Tigran Hamasyan is guest of honour at this year’s festival
Kyle Eastwood will roll out his elegant jazz in Rennes
A special mention goes to Tigran Hamasyan, guest of honour at this year’s festival. Armenian pianist and composer, and former partner of the BNP Paribas Foundation, Hamasyan is releasing his second solo album this year, seven years after the major success of “A Fable”.
Stéphane Belmondo will be in concert on 1st April in Saint-Malo. His concert “Love for Chet” will ring out like a love song to Chet Baker.
On the same day, bass guitarist and double-bassist, Kyle Eastwood (Clint’s son!), will perform in Rennes.
The festival ends Sunday 2 April with the cine-concert “Les vacances de Monsieur Hulot”, set to music by Jean-Pierre Como, also a former partner of Fondation BN Paribas.
About the festival
Supported by city partners such as the City of Rennes, Rennes Métropole and the Conseil général d’Ile et Vilaine, the Jazz à l’Étage festival will be a major cultural event. Festival sponsor, BNP Paribas – Banque de Bretagne has supported the Jazz à l’Étage festival since 2012.
This is the continuation of the key role that the BNP Paribas Group has been playing for the past 22 years in helping jazz musicians to develop their musical career, as well as sponsoring jazz festivals in France and internationally via its Foundation.
