Dream Up is the new BNP Paribas Foundation educational programme by the artistic practice. 30,000 children in unstable situation or of disability will profit from it in 26 countries. Today, here is Dream Up in Italy, with the MUSE Roma association.
The MUS-E organisation in Italy, which runs the ‘Arts at School’ programme, is the BNP Paribas Foundation’s Dream Up partner in the country. The organisation provides training for children and teenagers, mostly from immigrant families and living in difficult circumstances, in various arts disciplines, including music, singing, theatre and dance. The basic principle is that Art is a universal language in which diversity is an enrichment and which can therefore serve as a weapon against intolerance.
The Dream Up programme is managed in Rome by BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas and the BNP Paribas Foundation. The programme is being run at the San Cleto and Mahatma Gandhi primary schools in the San Basilio district in the north-western suburbs of the Italian capital and some 190 children are taking part. Through a project uniting the children, their families, teachers, professional artists and the entire community, MUS-E Italia is helping to rebuild this neighbourhood and improve community relations. MUS-E Italia, like MUS-E Belgium, is part of the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation network.
