A pioneer in mobile banking apps in Belgium, BNP Paribas Fortis has strengthened its multi-channel approach and boosted its mobile users' satisfaction by providing a dedicated transactional banking app for the iPhone.

With close to 100,000 mobile banking sessions per month, the bank has taken another step forward in its digital bank teller strategy by offering its customers the “Easy banking” app for iPhone.

Building on the success of its dedicated iPad banking app (more than 25,000 downloads since its launch last February), the bank's designers have adapted the platform of the app for the iPhone's unique ecosystem.

With a few large icons, sleek visuals and comprehensive but simplified features, “Easy banking” enables customers to access their accounts and check the balance more efficiently and more ergonomically, make transfers and locate the nearest branch.

It also offers a number of other features, such as an intuitive search engine for easily finding a transaction and displaying the transaction history for the previous six months, a system of indicators linked to the customer's credit card to help control spending and avoid unpleasant surprises, as well as information on the steps to take, via Assist, when the customer has an emergency.

The identification procedure couldn't be simpler, with two different options available. The first option is to register via a “one time password” provided instantly and free of charge by SMS. This means that the identification procedure is completely free for customers – not just for iPhone users, but also for customers using the iPad and the mobile website “m.bnpparibasdfortis.be”. The alternative option is to log on in the same way that you would for PC banking, namely using the card reader.

Subscription to the service and access to the iPhone “Easy Banking” app is available to existing customers of the PC Banking service.

An Android version of the app will be available before the end of the year.
