Digitalisation of VSE/SMEs, digital identification: innovation at BNP Paribas Fortis

The Group develops products to meet the needs of its customers and to respond to the structural changes in the banking industry. To do this, BNP Paribas was, in particular, the first European bank to partner with Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. These initiatives are part of the Group’s strategic vision and its culture of innovation.

Meeting customers' needs

All of the Group’s entities are actively working to design solutions that are in sync with a changing world. A leading example is BNP Paribas Fortis, which has announced two major innovation initiatives: a programme in association with Google to stimulate e-commerce within Belgian SMEs, and the launch of fingerprint identification for its mobile apps.

Helping companies to digitalise

Together with Google, BNP Paribas Fortis – via Bizcover Belgium (unavailable link), the active community of entrepreneurs in Belgium – is offering free training in digital marketing across the country. Open to everyone, these educational programmes are introducing entrepreneurs to the strategic and commercial potential of digital tools. When asked halfway through the programme, more than 90% of participants say they would recommend these workshops to others.

Secure transactions through digital fingerprints

Easy Banking, the bank’s mobile app for account management, is also undergoing a major change, with the launch of fingerprint identification. Once they’ve installed the latest update, BNP Paribas Fortis customers will be able to easily manage their personal data and access their bank accounts. This method has been available since the latest update of the BNP Paribas Fortis Easy Banking app in May.
