On 22 September 2013, at exactly the same time as the celebrated aviator took off on his record-setting flight, fifteen pilots, including eight with disabilities, will take off from Cannes, heading for Bizerte, Tunisia, flying five Cirrus airplanes. At the same time, an exact replica of the historic airplane flown by Roland Garros will also make the flight to Bizerte. Stopovers are planned in Corsica and Sardinia to reproduce the route flown by the pioneering aviator in 1913.
One of the eight pilots with disabilities is Ludovic Béjot, who has worked for BNP Paribas Cardif since 2007.
Through its support of Ludovic Béjot's trans-Mediterranean flight, BNP Paribas Cardif is also defending values such as courage and the drive to excel.
This project is particularly timely, since this year is the 40th anniversary of BNP Paribas Cardif, as well as BNP Paribas' 40th year of partnership with the French Open tennis tournament at Roland Garros Stadium, making it one of the oldest sports partnerships in the world. The Group is celebrating this event in its emblematic innovative and generous manner, through a number of exciting events open to the public. Fans can follow this celebration at 40ans.wearetennis.com, or in person at Roland Garros Stadium in Paris.
