SXSW: the meeting place for digital creativity

Whether you’re talking about technology, the latest trendy apps, or about culture, this festival’s common denominator is curiosity and creativity, with the aim being to push back boundaries.
This year SXSW hosted more than 800 events, centred on the future of transportation, the Internet of Things, smart data and virtual reality. E-health was also one of the major trends at this year’s festival: “health” was in the title of 49 conferences, more than “innovation” (47 times) or “media” (48 times). The future of health was addressed through issues related to the use of our data, as well as B2B and B2C practices, which have previously been presented on the L’Atelier website.
Many startups were honoured during this event, in the “Trade Show”, a vast hall located at the heart of SXSW, which hosts companies of all nationalities. France set up its stand under the banner of French Tech. Fifteen startups made the trip, including Weezic, Augment and 3D Sound Lab, discussed a few months earlier by L’Atelier.
The SXSW Accelerator served as a platform for 48 startup finalists out of 500 candidates. Those selected had 1 minute and 30 seconds to pitch in front of a panel of professionals. Reflecting trends discussed during the Interactive part of SXSW, the themes of this contest addressed smart data, entertainment, e-health, social trends, “wearables” and global innovations.
These are all elements and actions that are helping prepare the bank for a changing world. Knowledge of the trends detected and analysed by L’Atelier BNP Paribas is enabling the Group to place itself at the heart of a radically evolving universe.
