Operational Risk & Regulation Innovation Awards: BNP Paribas voted Bank of the Year 2011

  • 05.03.2012

Operational Risk & Regulation Innovation Awards 2012 LogoBNP Paribas has been named Bank of the Year 2011 in the ‘Operational Risk Management' category by Operational Risk & Regulation magazine.

The award recognises in particular the work carried out in recent years to integrate BNL, BNP Paribas Fortis and BGL BNP Paribas, and more specifically, for the approval the Bank has obtained for using an internal ‘Advanced Measurement Approach'(AMA)* in calculating regulatory capital.

The award was made on the basis of voting by the Heads of Operational Risk Management at major international banks, a number of regulators, and Heads of Operational Risk at consultancy firms. It highlights the Group's strong risk culture, clearly recognised by our peers.

*AMA is the third option proposed by the Basel Committee for calculating capital allocated to operational risk. Under this approach, the regulatory capital is calculated using the bank's internal models. It is the only option that aims at reflecting the bank's actual risk profile.
