The Davis Cup semi-final between Spain and the United States in September could be played at the famous Las Ventas bull-fighting ring here, Marca sports daily reported Tuesday.
Madrid is in competition with Benidorm, Tenerife and Gijon to stage what is expected to be a highly-charged encounter between a Spanish team led by Rafael Nadal and the Americans who are the reigning champions.
But Marca said that the Spanish capital was the favourite with its likely plan to lay down slow claycourts in the Las Ventas arena which can hold 23,000 spectators.
