HeForShe is a global movement of solidarity dedicated to gender equality and calls men and boys to take action to fight against discrimination suffered by women and girls. This campaign was launched by Emma Watson’s speech at the United Nations in September 2014.
We want to end gender inequality and to do this we need everyone involved. [...] We want to try and galvanize as many men and boys as possible to be advocates for change.Emma Watson, UN Women Goodwill Ambassador
To strengthen women's rights and creating a common equality culture, HeForShe invites all people to commit in signing the HeForShe commitment and thus to speak out and take action for the cause. Today in the world, more than 293,000 men are committed.
In France, about 20 personalities from all sectors - politics, media, culture, business, associations, institutional and academic - have signed the commitment and have become ambassadors for the campaign. Jean-Laurent Bonnafé, BNP Paribas Chief Executive Officer, has engaged in this movement alongside the UN Women France Committee.
Furthermore, BNP Paribas supports the "Women's Empowerment Principle" which is held every year at the UN in New York. An event that brings together leaders from business, government, the UN and civil society to focus on concrete steps and actions that the business world can take to advance gender equality in the workplace, marketplace and community.
The agreements mark the determination of the BNP Paribas Group to act in favor of gender equality and the fight against discrimination against women.
