On April 2, 2008, more than 450 guests gathered to pay tribute shipping industry giants at the Lloyd's List London Awards ceremony. It was BNP Paribas' subsidiary, Corporate and Investment Banking's (CIB), Shipping Finance group that went home with the prestigious “Ship Financier of the Year 2007” award.
CIB caters to the financial needs of ship owners throughout the world, covering all shipping sectors and monitoring more than six hundred mortgaged vessels. Lloyd's List, the leading daily newspaper for the maritime industry, rewarded the financial institution because it has made the most notable contribution to the financing of the maritime market over the past 12 months.
CIB won the award against competition from finalists Citi, Hans Petter Aas of DnB NOR, HSH Nordbank, Nordea and Royal Bank of Scotland.
