The Lebanese government has set the stage for the privatization of Electricité du Liban and retained BNP Paribas to advise it on the operation. BNP Paribas has a two-part mandate. The first part involves preparing the specifications and launching the international tender offer for a strategic partner to take a 5% to 15% ownership interest of EDL. The second part entails valuing the company. This is the first privatization operation launched in Lebanon by the new administration of Prime Minister Hariri. BFI's Corporate Finance teams secured the mandate with the active support of the Beirut representative office.
