Attend Festival Lyon Lumière 2015, 12-18 October

From 12 to 18 October, Festival Lyon Lumière is held for the seventh consecutive year.

This edition honors Martin Scorsese. The American filmmaker will receive the prix Lumière, for his work, after Quentin Tarantino, Almodovar and Clint Eastwood.

Born in a family of Sicilian origin, in Queens, the boy who was dismissed from the catholic seminary at 14, is today considered as one of the greatest filmmakers of his generation, thanks to films such as “Raging Bull”, “Mean Streets”, “Goodfellas”, or “Gangs of New York”, which combine questions about good and evil, characters in search of meaning, violence and police affairs, whith New York as backdrop, featuring some of his favorite actors: Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Leonardo di Caprio, among others.

This new edition of the Festival Lyon Lumière offers a program gathering 358 sessions and 147 films shown in 22 towns of Lyon area, Pixar and Jean Duvivier restrospectives, master-classes, including one given by Martin Scorsese, and actors such as Sophia Loren, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Mélanie Thierry and Mads Mikkelsen.

Attended by many celebrities, Opening Night is held on October 12, at 19:30, at the Halle Tony Garnier. The projection of a surprise movie will be the climax of this event.
