279 films over 98 sessions… a new edition of Anima, the international animation film festival to be held in Brussels from 24 February to 5 March, is nearly upon us. For more than 30 years, the event has attracted an increasingly larger audience, setting a new attendance record in 2016, with 42,000 visitors.
With its close ties to the world of cinema, BNP Paribas Fortis is a partner of this large gathering, which combines professional meetings, films for young audiences and films for adults.
Anima also incorporates conferences, and a national and international competition of long and short films, judged by the public and professional juries. Portugal and Italy are in the spotlight this year, with showings and debates dedicated to the films produced in these two countries.
The great innovation for 2017 is virtual reality. Anima is thus hosting the second edition of Experience, the virtual reality festival in Brussels, which enables everyone to experience the new possibilities offered by this technology.
Part of the programme has also been relocated: to Flanders, with Ghent, Antwerp, Leuven and Genk, and to Wallonia, with Ath, Mons, Charleroi, Namur and Liège.
Read all about the feature length and short animations, the documentaries, our special sessions, the retrospectives and exhibitions, the workshops and numerous activities that make Anima the unmissable event in the cinematographic calendar, as much as for kids as for cinephiles.
