Business Overview:
The Value Preservation Group (“VPG”) is the internal workout/restructuring platform within the Corporate and Institutional Bank (“CIB”), responsible for the management of deteriorating, distressed and or bankrupt exposures including loan, derivative and equity positions that were originated across CIB. VPG is engaged by the originating business line at various levels of involvement depending on the level of attention required, including:
- Advisor: VPG acts in an advisory capacity to the business line for financings to clients which have an uncertain financial outlook, providing the business line with an initial diagnosis and real time advice, with no direct intervention with the client
- Co-Pilot: VPG works with the business line in a deal team format and is actively and directly involved in all client meetings, syndicate bank group discussions and steering committee meetings. VPG's validation is required for all credit decisions
- Pilot: VPG takes the lead role in managing the restructuring and negotiating process, and is responsible for validating all important credit decisions. Credit proposals are written jointly by VPG and the business line
- Transfer: The file is transferred to VPG and the business line withdraws from active involvement in the management of the file.
