BUSINESS OVERVIEW:

BNP Paribas' Global Banking division sits within Corporate & Institutional Banking ("CIB") and supports our clients by providing strategic financial advisory services alongside access to a broad spectrum of financing, capital markets and transaction banking services. We combine our global expertise and local presence to best support the complex needs of our multinational clients.

One of the key pillars of Global Banking is Global Capital Markets ("GCM"), which is where the Leveraged Financed Group ("LFG") sits. LFG's mandate is to structure, originate, underwrite and execute deals in the leveraged capital markets in support of both financial sponsors and corporate issuers. LFG's capabilities include 1) underwriting leveraged loans and high yield bonds, 2) structuring leveraged buyouts ("LBO") and corporate M&A acquisition financings, 3) liability management and 4) capital structure advisory for non-investment grade issuers. 

LFG works extremely closely with a number of partner teams (including M&A and Sector Industry Groups, Client Coverage, Syndicate, Ratings Advisory, Risk) across North America, EMEA and APAC in providing comprehensive client servicing to sponsors and corporates alike. 

DESCRIPTION:

Our MBA summer internship represents an excellent opportunity for MBA students to join an established yet growing leveraged finance platform while developing a core skill set of deep credit capital markets analysis and have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a team with a flat hierarchy and direct access to senior bankers.

As a full member of the team, the MBA summer interns will have the opportunity to work closely with analysts, senior associates, VPs and above with the benefit of an intensive on-the-job technical and professional training, and to participate and contribute across all parts in the transaction lifecycle. The responsibilities include the following:

  • Knowledge of the leveraged debt capital markets and current market conditions
  • Advanced financial statement analysis and cash flow projection modeling
  • Fundamental credit analysis and related due diligence to identify significant business, industry and financial strengths and risks
  • Knowledge of the life cycle of a deal from structuring/modeling, development of the credit proposal for internal credit and capital markets committees, development of marketing

  • MBA Graduation year of Winter 2025 – Spring 2026
  • Previous experience in banking, financial services or quantitative/analytical background preferred
  • Strong grasp of accounting and financial statement analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge of excel and financial modeling
  • Proactive, self-starter and goal-oriented- strong worth ethic and demonstrated commitment to excellence
  • Ability to handle multiple high priority responsibilities under tight deadlines
  • Strong team player with ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Participate in weekly senior speaker events and roundtable discussions to gain a comprehensive understanding of financial markets and the industry
  • Network with colleagues and learn about industry topics through workshops and speaker series, as well as through philanthropy and social events

COMPENSATION:

The annualized base salary for this position in New York is $175,000
