Mexico Advisory Analyst

BUSINESS OVERVIEW

Advisory Americas delivers advisory services for mergers and acquisitions, primary and secondary equity capital markets transactions as well as equity private placements. The team includes over 80 bankers located in New York, San Francisco, Mexico City, Bogota, São Paulo, and Santiago de Chile. Within Advisory Latin America, the team is based in New York and in Latin America, organized geographically along four regions: Mexico, Brazil, Andean Region and Southern Cone, and covers all industries, with a particular sector focus on Energy, Renewables & Infrastructure, TMT, Financial Institutions, and Industrials. BNP Paribas Advisory Americas is a leading M&A advisor in Latin America, commanding top M&A league table positions in several key markets in the region. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a technical field with advanced numeracy
  • Demonstrated record of academic excellence
  • 1+ years of experience working in investment banking (IB team within a global bank, bulge bracket, large boutique advisory firm, or big-4) with specific experience in M&A processes
  • Strong data management and research skills
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Knowledge of corporate finance theory
  • Financial modelling capabilities is a plus 
  • Detail oriented and reliable with a complete focus on quality results/deliverables
  • Working proficiency in English and Spanish, both verbal and written
  • Technical proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Power Point

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Assist on the marketing and execution of M&A transactions in accordance with BNP Paribas’ standards and processes
  2. Perform industry and company specific research, and strategic analyses using BNP Paribas analysis matrix
  3. Maintain up-to-date BNP Paribas’ proprietary analysis of Mexican comparable sector benchmarks as well as precedent transactions’ analysis form that integrates into BNP Paribas’ global sector valuation tool template
  4. Build and regularly update mapping of all relevant market players (incumbents, strategics, financial investors) across BNP Paribas sector verticals of expertise (Energy, Renewables & Infrastructure, TMT, Financial Institutions, and Industrials) in Mexico
  5. Participate in the preparation of pitches and marketing materials in compliance with BNP Paribas’ internal rules and templates
  6. Perform financial analysis, including detailed economic assessment of past performance – margins & profitability analysis, investment strategy, liquidity & cash flows, ROCE & ROI analysis – and build detailed financial models presenting comprehensive and fully functioning financial statements
  7. Perform business valuations utilizing the discounted cash flow valuation methodologies as well as public market and transaction multiples in accordance with BNP Paribas’ BVT (“Business Valuation Team”) internal methodologies, in particular regarding:
    1. Cost of Capital computation model (proprietary direct method) 
    2. Country Risk Premium assessment according to BNP Paribas multi-criteria approach
    3. “Cash Flow Fade” proprietary DCF terminal value methodology
    4. Comparable companies’ beta deleveraging (factoring in beta of pension assets and liabilities)
  8. Assist in implementation of BNP Paribas’ internal project administration processes, including 
    1. Mandate approval process (using proprietary mandate approval tool IB Portal)
    2. Conflict checks (leveraging ODLF & COSIMA proprietary tool)
    3. Client onboarding, KYC and recertification (using MAOS tool)
    4. Global Control Room continuous communication 
    5. Marketing Log maintenance
    6. BNP Paribas’ “Project Master” maintenance
  9. Provide all other support as assigned
