Job Title: Assistant Manager

Department: Banking service operations

About Business line/Function: The role sits within Banking service operations – Account manager, part of the Chennai hub of BNP Paribas India solutions private limited. We provide end‑to‑end custody, settlement services to institutional investors, fund managers and broker‑dealers across Asia and Europe. The team works closely with clients along with internal partners (operations, compliance, technology) to ensure seamless delivery of the bank’s solutions across asset classes and geographies.

Position Purpose: Act as the client Single Point of Contact (SPOC) to achieve client delight, coordinate internal teams, adhere to BNP Paribas policies and service‑level agreements (SLAs), and prevent breaches by delivering solutions on time and to the required quality.

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

  • Risk‑governance – maintain the BSO and Fund Distribution Services (FDS) risk‑governance framework.
  • Program coordination – act as the point of contact for regional programmes that align locations with Group Policy, regulatory reporting and Global Control Plans.
  • Credit‑control process ownership – oversee end‑to‑end credit‑control (account set‑up → payments), liaising with all internal stakeholder teams across the Sydney business.
  • First‑line defense – perform AML transaction analysis & reporting, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, annual US‑account identification, manual‑entries control, and investigation of non‑compliant alerts.
  • Audit liaison – serve as the single point of contact for internal and external audit requests.
  • Control execution for Global Custody – deliver quarterly Overdrawn & Dormant Account reports, run manual‑entries control testing, analyse overdraft customers/credit institutions, and review monthly abnormal balances.
  • Instruction‑callback oversight – manage callbacks for Investment Communications team (faxed cash‑payment instructions to third parties).
  • Business continuity – conduct impact analysis, planning and testing of BSO Business Continuity procedures.
  • Incident remediation – lead remedial actions, including good‑value claim payments for all BP2S Sydney incidents.
  • Cash‑account interest set‑up – manage the Global Custody cash‑account interest set‑up process.

Contributing Responsibilities

  • Regulatory comprehension  stay current on the regulations governing the business and ensure BP2S obligations are executed and monitored.
  • Risk & Control monitoring  deliver and monitor a framework that ensures residual risk is maintained at an acceptable, sustainable level.
  • Stakeholder relationship building – establish strong links with second‑line functions, Global Process Owners (GPOs) and first‑line process owners.
  • Automation of controls  design and implement progressive solutions to automate manual controls wherever feasible.

  • Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint & Word (advanced functions, data analysis, reporting).

Specific Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in securities‑services operations, risk‑control or regulatory‑reporting functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and execute control frameworks and to interact with senior stakeholders (internal & external).
  • Strong accounting/analytical background with the capacity to handle complex data sets.
  • Ability to work autonomously as an account‑manager while also co‑ordinating with cross‑functional teams.
