About Business line/Function: 

The Strategic Business Development and Transformation (SBDT) Team
 The SBDT team defines the regional go-to-market strategy and value proposition across all products and locations. The team manages the product portfolio, designs client solutions, and leads transformational initiatives across multiple product and solution domains. This function aligns the business with market, regulatory, and client requirements to drive optimal client satisfaction.

The SBDT team comprises several specialized units: Product and Solutions, Strategy and Business Management, Business Credit Advisors (BCA), Regulatory Watch.

To deliver strategic outcomes, the department collaborates closely with key internal stakeholders. Primary partners include the client coverage teams (Sales, Relationship Management, and Client Service) and the Service and IT delivery leadership (Client Delivery). Furthermore, the team maintains close working relationships with FIC, Global Markets, BNP Paribas Asset Management, and Wealth Management.

Position Purpose: 

As the Securities Services (2S) footprint expands across the APAC region, the division is increasingly recognized as an industry leader. To support the growing franchise, we are seeking talented professionals to support the following functions:

a) Risk management – Business credit analyst (BCA) CIB2S BCA team is a team of experts in credit risk in post trade services of CIB2S. As experts, the team provides risk assessments for these activities to CIB2S Business, Credit analysts and RISK credit delegation holders in the context of credit requests and annual credit reviews. The team members also contribute to raising risk awareness across CIB2S. The team collaborates with all CIB2S locations, engaging with various business lines and functions across the organization.

b) Performance Management Framework - The team oversees the following areas:

Business Management: Managing governance and P&L monitoring, while contributing to strategic product development initiatives for APAC Client Lines.

Strategic Leadership: Driving strategic initiatives, including business, location, and regional strategies, alongside comprehensive market reviews for CIB2S.

Policy Alignment: Collaborating with Head Office to implement 2S policies and procedures affecting APAC SBDT.

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

Risk Management

· Credit Assessment: Review credit requests prepared by Coverage and Front Office teams, providing critical challenge when proposed activity structures or risk mitigants deviate from BNP Paribas Credit Policies.

· Limit Calibration: Calibrate requested credit limits to ensure alignment with risk appetite.

· Risk Advisory: Provide formal risk opinions to Credit Analysts and Credit Officers regarding specific requests.

· Committee Representation: Represent the Business in credit committees, working in partnership with Client Development.

· Governance & Compliance: Manage post-committee follow-ups with relevant stakeholders to ensure all pending conditions are met.

· Due Diligence: Participate in client due diligence processes as required.

· Legal Risk Analysis: Analyze the credit risk implications of amendments to legal agreements and provide strategic recommendations to decision-makers.

· Strategic Projects: Contribute to projects concerning CIB2S credit risk topics and portfolio analysis.

· Market Intelligence: Maintain proactive awareness of evolving CIB2S activities, regulatory environments and credit risk methodologies, disseminating key insights to Management and business partners.

· Country Risk Monitoring: Utilize existing framework (e.g., country envelopes) and develop enhanced methodologies for the holistic monitoring of risk exposures in sensitive jurisdictions.

· Product Development: Advise CIB2S Product teams on potential risk impacts during the product development lifecycle.

Performance management:

· Governance Support: supporting APAC Client Lines Executive Committee (Exco) governance through the preparation of decision-making analyses across a broad range of strategic topics.

· Strategic Initiatives: supporting regional strategic initiatives, including business, location, and regional strategies, market reviews, and market share analyses.

· Financial Management: Supporting Client Lines' financial reporting, headcount planning, cost management, and the budgeting process, alongside reviewing allocation keys and producing regional newsletters and dashboards.

· Profitability Optimization: Supporting initiatives to improve profitability for key regional clients and proposing actionable plans to enhance client and product margins.

· Committee Management: Assisting senior management committees, including the Client Line Board, APAC Business Committees, and Client Line Steering Committees—by preparing strategic documentation and action plans.

· Product Development: Contributions towards various regional product development initiatives.

· Stakeholder Liaison: Liaising with Head Office on SBDT-related matters as required.

· Ad Hoc Projects: Executing ad hoc tasks within the performance management remit.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

· Proven expertise in credit or counterparty risk management within a financial institution or risk consultancy.

· Deep understanding of the Securities Services industry, its product suite, and the complexities of various financial instruments and their associated risks.

· Advanced analytical and presentation skills, with high proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and the ability to manipulate large, complex datasets with rigor.

· Ability in strategic planning and business management, underpinned by strong, independent problem-solving skills.

· Exceptional ability to synthesize complex information and formulate concise, high-impact messages for stakeholders.

· Ability to navigate complex organizational hierarchies and engage confidently with senior leadership

· Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Education Level: Bachelor’s degree or above

Specific Qualifications: CA or FRM or CFA qualification is highly desirable.
