The JAZZ A OUAGA festival is celebrating its 25th anniversary

From 28 April to 6 May 2017, the 25th edition of the famous Ouagadougou festival is rich in music and high in emotion.

For eight days, music will be shaking the city. Created in 1992, this event, now a must for jazz fans in the capital of Burkina Faso, brings together a major lineup of musicians every year - both young upcoming talents and world-renowned musical celebrities.

This year, musicians from all over the world are featured once again - some from Europe (Joss Stone, Fabrice Devienne, Swing Brosse System), others from the Americas (Larry Skoller, Calvin Jackson, Beverly J. Scott) and many artists hailing from all over the African continent (Victor Dey, Paco Séry, Geoffrey Oryema, Habib Faye, etc), making Jazz à Ouaga a fusion of culture and music.

a fusion of culture and music.
Until 6 May, three different sites are hosting about twenty concerts, with more than 200 musicians! This edition’s rich programme of events gives festival goers a chance to explore jazz, blues and related musical styles. And that’s not all: since it was created, every year, the festival organisers have scheduled parallel music-based events, such as the “Jazz-Performance” music contest, which, this year, will be staging six pre-selected competing groups, and “Jazz School”, which initiates secondary and high school students into jazz through musical works and encounters with professionals. A training workshop will also be held during the “Roots” event.

With their support for Jazz à Ouaga, the BICIAB and the BNP Paribas Foundation help to put the festival on the map both in Africa and throughout the world.
