Drummer Anne Paceo becomes BNP Paribas Foundation partner
Anne Paceo, the outstanding French jazz drummer, with whom the BNP Paribas Foundation is now partnering, is on tour in Asia with her band Yôkai from 17 November to 7 December, playing eight dates in five countries.
A jazz drummer of unrestricted horizons, a globetrotter and talented composer, Anne Paceo has already enjoyed an outstanding career, playing concerts in close to 40 countries. That list is now expanding with an autumn tour in Asia with her band Yôkai, playing dates in Burma, Brunei, Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia.
The BNP Paribas Foundation, which has over the last 20 years been one of the very few corporate sponsors of jazz music, decided to provide support to Anne Paceo in order to enable the public to discover the rich and subtle work of this unusual percussionist.
Anne Paceo began to play rock and funk from her earliest years, touring in France for the first time at the age of 16. She subsequently discovered the freedom of jazz music. Today her compositions are influenced by world music, jazz, pop and classical styles. Her hypnotic tones transport the audience away on a vast musical odyssey.
In 2005 she founded her band Triphase and in 2010 assembled the group Yôkai. She has brought out three albums under the Laborie Jazz label, winning the Django d’Or prize in 2009 and the Victoire de la Musique award in 2011.
“Anne Paceo impressed me immensely with her talent, musicality, proficiency and her dedication to her art form. Her distinct style and sound make her unique."
